Launching your Rocket

Watching a rocket launch is exciting, but it is not as exciting as launching off a rocket yourself. This of course, is the favorite part of every rocketeer alive.
But before you launch your rocket, there are a couple steps you must do for a successful launch:

  1. Find a suitable launch area. The area that you use should be large enough to shoot and recover your rocket. If it is in a public space (like a school's football field) make sure you have permission to launch your rocket. Also, make sure that the area is clear of people. If there area has people around make sure that they are notified of your intentions.
  2. Load your engine. The basic rule for rocket engine size is that the engine should fit inside the rocket body snugly. It also should rest against the engine stop.
  3. Insert the wadding into the opening of the nose cone loosely so it should rest in the area in front of the engine. DO NOT pack it in. It must be free to deploy the recovery system.
  4. Insert the recovery system, whether it is the parachute or streamer system. Both systems must be rolled up so it can fit in the remaining area left inside the body. Now, it must not be rolled tightly. It must be rolled loosely so the system can deploy and roll out of itself easily for a successful recovery.
  5. Insert the igniter. This item is fragile and is where most of the engine misfires take place. It is a matter of proper placement and experience that will contribute to a successful launch.
  6. Load the rocket. Carefully, place the rocket on the launch guide rod via the Rod Guide. The rocket should rest on its fins on the base of the launch pad.
  7. Check the electrical igniter system. Before you connect the electrical system to the igniter, you must check if the launch control remote works properly.
  8. Connect the electrical system to the igniter. Using the alligator clips of the launch control remote, connect the igniter. Stand back at the wires length of the remote and count off loudly, starting from 10 to one.
  9. On the count of one, Launch the rocket.
